What determines the budget?
The main cost drivers are the total site area, playing format, condition of the existing ground, civil base requirements, turf type, enclosure height, lighting, drainage, access and additional facilities. Commercial box-cricket projects may also include seating, branding, reception or other customer-facing elements.
Site preparation and civil work
If the site needs substantial excavation, filling, compaction, leveling or a new structural slab, the civil portion can materially change the project budget. A site survey helps separate existing conditions from new construction requirements.
Turf and pitch specification
Different turf systems are designed for different uses. Pitch matting, high-density synthetic pitch turf and outfield turf can have different specifications and installation requirements. The correct specification should be selected based on playing intensity rather than choosing only on appearance.
Netting, steel and lighting
Commercial facilities often require a complete enclosure system. Steel framing, UV-resistant netting, access gates and LED sports lighting are separate components that should be included in the quotation. Lighting design can vary considerably depending on height, number of poles and required playing conditions.
Drainage and rainwater management
Drainage should be treated as part of the initial construction budget. Retrofitting drainage after turf installation is usually more disruptive than planning it during the civil stage. The site should have a clear strategy for collecting and moving rainwater.
How to request a useful quotation
Share the site location, approximate dimensions, photographs, intended sport format, indoor/outdoor status and desired features. Ask for the quotation to separate civil work, turf, steel/netting, lighting and other optional items. This makes competing proposals easier to understand.
Avoid comparing only the headline price
A lower initial figure may exclude civil preparation, drainage, lighting or maintenance items. Compare the complete scope, material specification, installation method, warranty terms and after-sales support instead of only the total number.
