Site planning
Check the available area, access, existing ground condition, surrounding structures and intended number of courts. Allow enough circulation space outside the playing lines for safe movement.
Base preparation
The court needs a stable and sufficiently level foundation. Existing concrete may need repairs or preparation before the sports coating is applied.
Acrylic surfacing
Outdoor pickleball courts commonly use layered sports coatings designed for grip, color and durability. The exact system should be selected for the site and manufacturer requirements.
Drainage
Outdoor courts should have a controlled slope and drainage route that prevents prolonged standing water. Drainage should be resolved before final surfacing.
Fencing and lighting
Perimeter fencing helps retain balls and separates the playing area from surrounding spaces. Lighting can extend operating hours, but pole locations and glare should be considered during layout.
Maintenance
Keep the court clean, inspect cracks and surface wear, maintain drainage paths and follow the coating manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.
